With so many beautiful places all over the world, towns in France are no exceptions. A country with several regions and territories, that extends to all of Europe. Also, its borders are shared with other European countries like Belgium, Italy, Spain and Germany. Nevertheless, the country has a population of 67.08 million people as at March 2020. However, with a land area of 643,801 square kilometres. France has its capital in Paris; the largest city in the country. Also it has several other major cities; Toulouse, Lille, Nice, Marseille etc.
Furthermore, it has a total of 12 time zones; the highest for any country in Europe. As it may be obvious to most, its official language is French. The country has a variety of religions practice by it citizens. However, over 90% of its total population are French Nationals. And the rest of foreign nationality.

Paris
The capital city of France, is the largest in the country. It houses an enormous number of 2,148,271 people. However the official population is estimated as 12,278,210 including the Metropolitan area. This estimate dates as recently as January 2020. Also, with an area of 105 square kilometres. Paris is evidently the seat of Government. And responsible for basically most part of the countries’ economy. Marseille
Marseille is the second largest city after Paris. With over a hundred thousand more than Lyon right behind. It estimates a population of 870,018 as at 2016. And is spread over an area of 241km². Its extended Metropolitan area puts it space at 3,173km. Although, it use to be popular for its business prowess all over Europe. However, the city continues to be the country’s main commercial port.
Lyon
Residents of Lyon are called Lyonnais. Just located at the south of Paris and North of Marseille; it is third largest city in the country. Its last census produced a result of 513,275 people in January 2015. Historically, the cinema, festivals, its Architectural landmarks are things Marseille is known for. Also, the city is titled as the City of Lights. Marseille further boosts the countries’ economy in other sectors as, Pharmacy, banking, chemical and biotech industries.
Bordeaux
With a population of 254,436 people, it is the 6th largest city in France. Bordeaux is a port city found on the southern part of France. Despite its size, the city has the highest number of preserve historical buildings. Although, Paris alone, has more. Annually, the city rakes in about 14.5 billion from wine industry alone. A huge revenue, for a city of its size. Furthermore, Bordeaux continues to be an eminent wine producing city recognised worldwide.
Nice
Nice is just 13 kilometres off the vicinity of Monaco. And 30 kilometres from the countries’ border. The city of Nice has an historical attachment to the early days. As evidence shows the use of fire from centuries ago. While, the city has more hotels than most other cities. It receives up to 4 million visitors yearly. Therefore, boosting the economy through tourism.

Medieval Towns in France
France is well known for its beautiful towns, stunning Artefacts and historic traditions. To see and have a feel of the primitive times, these towns are the perfect places to experience such.
Avignon
A place that use to house the Catholic Popes, from1309-1377. However, it lies within the French Province; its old buildings apparently still exist. Saint Malo
There is plenty to see in the Medieval town of Malo. From its several Islands and beaches to iconic monument – the Saint Malo Cathedral. Conques is found in Aveyron department of Southern France. A place once sojourned by Pilgrims in search of a new home. With diners found all over town, it is the perfect place for foodies. Carcassonne
Another hill side town that attracts visitors with its several medieval structures. Up the hill, it features a castle with over 50 towers. In and out were architecture filled with awe. Due to the numerous canal on Sorgue River, the town is sometimes referred to as the “Venice of Provence”. The market is one of the most extensive and features about 500 antique dealers. This attracts a lot of tourists, with the several artefacts on sale.
