Abuja Municipal town is a local government area within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria that makes up the sixth local government area which are Kwali, Kuje, Gwagwalada, Bwari, and Abaji. The town is also called the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) which is located in the eastern part of the Federal Capital Territory, the town is closed to Suleja road at the North, it’s also lead to Keffi – Nyanya road at the East and one can also drive through Gwagwalada Lokoja road at the West.

The town was founded on the 1st of October 1984, it one of the oldest towns in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Municipal has twelve wards which are Wuse, Orozo, Nyanya, Karshi, Karu, Kabusa, Jiwa, Gwarinpa, Gwagwa, Gui, Garki, and City Center. The wards are represented by a Councilor each and the headquarters of Abuja Municipal is at Garki.


Abuja Municipal is a large and beautiful town with a population of 776, 298 as of 2006 and 1,234,880 in 2011 according to report, which means the population will be more presently. The land of Abuja Municipal is an arable land and has a rich soil. The land has a high yield in Yam production in the villages, Rice, Millet, Guinea corn, Flour mills, and Beans. The set of people here is Educated and civilized people who are Bankers, Doctors, Teachers, Educationist, Engineers, Civil Engineers, Legal practitioners, Government officials etc.

The land accommodate people of different races, foreign investors comes into the town to inspect mineral resources which are Mica, Marble, Iron, Clay etc. due to the availability of the mineral resources and the rich soil in the town many companies have moved to this town in other to serve people better and also get more customers. Companies in this area are Aviation, Banks, Construction companies, Hotels, Estate Management, Insurance, Telecommunication, and Transportation etc. are found here easily in this town.

Food in Abuja Municipal town

The good thing here is that the food in Abuja Municipal are Unique and taste delicious with its rich nutrients. The food here are more of the northerners, they are mostly made from Rice, Millet, and Corn. These foods are Tuwon shinkafa, Tuwon Dawa, Pate, Miyan kuka, Furadanono, Dabinu, Burabisco, etc. Dressing
The people of this land dress in different attire since it’s full of different tribes of people, though it indigene wears Danshiki, Babariga, Turban etc. others also put on their traditional attires too and English wears are often use daily especially in offices or at work.

The language spoken by indigene are Koro, Gwandara, Ganagada, Gad, Bassa, etc. while other languages include English, French, Spanish, Indian, Mandarin which are spoken by foreigners though English is also spoken by Nigerians. Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Ibibio, etc. and other Nigerian language are common in the town.

Religion in Abuja Municipal town

The way of life here is mixed some are Christian while others are Muslims and few traditional worshipers, Churches, and Mosques are operating fine and other religion from Indian and China also exist within the city.

The town has Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Five-star hotel, Army, Airforce, Navy and The Nigerian Police Mobile Force headquarters are also in this town. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory office, The Arts and Culture Centre and has a mighty single housing estate which is called the Gwarinpa Housing Estate. ECOWAS Court for the President and its Members is also found in this town. The town is a very secure place to be.
