Most report of the pandemic seem to come from major cities with Coronavirus cases. As we all know, coronavirus cases are usually reported on a Global scale. However, a large part of these cases come from the major cities within the country. Also, small villages and towns are usually thought safe. Now they slowly record cases of the virus. Due to this new development; health officials advice city-level report of cases. Although, this is still in debate not all authorities are on board with the new suggestion. Statistics show the pandemic started few months ago. Great nations and countries are gradually brought to its knees by this. Evidently, highly populated places are mostly hit by the virus. And the major cities with Coronavirus cases fall well under this category. Consequently, major cities all over the world are continuously shut down in an attempt to contain the virus.

Coronavirus cases in China

 Sichuan

The first case of  the coronavirus got to the city of Sichuan on the 20th February 2022. Although, no case was confirmed till the next day. However, the city currently has 539 confirmed cases. A large number have recovered numbering 515. And only 3 deaths have been recorded.

 Shanghai

This very popular city records a huge number of cases in so short a time. Although, the city is outside the province of Hubei it is the largest city in China. Despite the efforts to get the exact figures, the city still records over 400 cases and 5 deaths. However, this owes back to march taking in so many cases in a short period.

 Wuhan

The coronavirus which started as suspected Pneumonia in Wuhan hospitals was delayed to be reported. However, the disease after confirmation broke out abruptly and fast. Although, the Chinese authorities were praised for quick response to the disease by WHO. They still got criticised for delaying the news to the world. Furthermore, the pandemic proved difficult to contain due to the delay. The world got to know about the virus at a late hour. With the cases increasing daily, countries take several measures to tackle the epidemic. Curfews are implemented. Railway stations closed and public gatherings prohibited. The cases in Hubei are well over 68,000 and death above 4,500.

Coronavirus Cases in U.S

 New York

New York is among the known major cities with coronavirus cases. This city records the highest number of deaths. Although, it is widely known as the city that never sleeps its streets are currently left forlorn. With a population of  about 146,726 the virus has claimed the lives of over 15,000 people.

 Detroit

According to the doctors in Detroit, the situation there seems more serious than in New York City. Although, it is the 21st century, racism is still a big problem. Citizens have lost faith in the Government and heath system alike. Also, the people of Detroit have got a history of poverty and health issues. This makes many prone to the virus. The number of cases reported so far is 1,381 with 31 deaths.

 Louisiana

The fear of running out of ventilators continues to put fear into the heart of every major city with coronavirus. This  includes Louisiana. Being amongst major cities with coronavirus cases, they also take necessary precautions. The number of confirmed cases continue to increase drastically in recent days. They so far record more than 2,700 cases as 119 patients have already been declared dead.

 Florida

Several measures are taken by the Governor of this state to tackle the coronavirus. This especially includes visitors. Checkpoints are also set up to check cars coming into the state. Also, visitors are advised to make use of the face masks and quarantine themselves. However, the state is in need of protective gears and are asking for donations from residents.

 Chicago

Despite the stay at home order given by the Government, people still roam the city. Several places like the park, lake front are closed to enforce the order. However, failure to practice safe distancing results to reports of more cases.

African Major cities with Coronavirus cases

 Johannesburg, South Africa

Over a thousand confirmed cases are recorded so far. The city joins the most affected on the continent. The city with a population of about 59 million people ordered its citizens to stay at home for three weeks. Although, the virus spreads rather slowly in other African countries. Its rapid increase in South Africa breeds problem for the state. Furthermore, there is also the case of inadequate medical system. This makes it more difficult to contain if the spread persists.

Lagos, Nigeria

The largest city in Africa, has the highest number of confirmed cases in the country. The leaders added two weeks on the lockdown to contain the virus. Still, the number of cases has not seized to reduce. Although, the cases keep increasing so does the recovered cases. Lagos is regarded as the powerhouse of the country. So, being among major cities with Coronavirus is of great concern. The total number of confirmed cases last updated on the 19th of February 2020 gives 251. And deaths are up to 10.

 Zimbabwe

Although, the state has not recorded as much cases as some other African cities. Its citizens are drawn to panic. Also, a few heath workers have abandoned their jobs for fear of getting infected. The state was shaken at the report of the first death as this drove the city into a frenzy.

 Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso reports more deaths of Government officials than most major cities with coronavirus cases.

 Malawi

A  good number of cities and territories take every precaution possible to avoid and slow the spread of the coronavirus. Meanwhile, Malawi may not exactly be on same page as its other African counterparts. As reported, the aim to implement a lockdown of the city was rejected by a High Court judge. Although the lockdown stops all businesses for a few weeks. I.t is feared the lockdown may do more harm.

 Nairobi, Kenya

Just like major cities with coronavirus cases, Nairobi also restricts movement. Only the food vendors may be allowed to move. Although, the confinement could cause impatience and unrest. The Government and the people agree that food is paramount. Also, the distribution of food have caused chaos but a better system is being applied.
