The list of towns in Ogun state are big in land size compare to other southwestern state in Nigeria. Although Ogun state has the largest land size in the southwestern state with 16,762 km². However, Ondo state takes the second position. While Lagos State is the smallest not only in the south west but in Nigeria. Ogun state is one of the states in Nigeria that was created on February 1976 from the former western states with different towns, villages and cities in it. Ogun state as a whole is also a state in Southwestern part of Nigeria; with different people from different etchnicity. However, it shares boundaries with Lagos state in the South, Republic of Benin to West, Osun and Oyo to the North and Ondo to East. The state designation is a gateway to Nigeria and Abeokuta is popularly known as it’s capital.

Ota

Ota is a town in Ogun state that has atleast over 160,000 citizens residing within or around it. Also, it is known as the capital of Ado-odo/Ota local Government area. The traditional ruler of Ota is known as Olota of Ota, Adeyemi abdukabir obalangede. However, in the year 1999 Ota was said to have been the third town that has the major industries in Nigeria. The most interesting part is that Ota is the home of the former Nigeria President Olusegun Obasanjo”s farm and the africa leadership forum. Ota make the list of towns in Ogun State because of it’s civilisation.

Akute

Another town in Ogun state that makes the border between Lagos and Ogun state. Also, it connect through 3 different roads, two routes out of it links to ikeja and one to Lagos Abeokuta express way. However, the distance between this town to Muritala Mohamed Airport will only take about 1 and half hour ride. There are lot of eateries and canteens that a visitor in Akute can eat and be refresh after a hectic day. Also, there are lot of plaza, shopping mall and stores; where one can buy goods and other things. The population in this town is said to be over 100,000 citizens.

Agbado

This is another town in Ogun state that is designated along the Lagos Abeokuta express way. However, This area is the common way that people travel through; most especially from Ogun state to Lagos State. Also, the common means of transportation in this area is the use of motorcycle, taxi and commercial buses. It is not news that there is a railway station; that the people in the area make use of when traveling most especially through Apapa to Ijoko in Ogun state. Nevertheless, we can find different kind of shopping malls, stores, banks and offices. The population in this town is also over 100,000 citizens.

Shagamu

Shagamu a.k.a (ishagamu) is a town in Ogun state that lies between the Eruwuru stream and Ibu river. Also, it shares boundaries with Lagos and Ibadan. It was instituted by the members of Remo branch of the Yoruba people in Southwestern Nigeria. The Shagamu territory is made up of limestone; which is use by common industries in the city for production of cement. However, the population in this town is over 200,000 people. Also, this town is known as the largest kola nut gathering center in the country. There are several administration in Shagamu which includes; ward 1 to ward 15 with their different names. The Remo Star Football Club is lies in this town, Shagamu. And also, the most surprising part is that the world champion boxer, Anthony Joshua is from this same town. We just can’t list the towns in Ogun state and not include Shagamu.

Ijebu ode

This is another popular town in Ogun state that lies in South West region of Nigeria. It is the last town on our list of towns in Ogun State. The town is 110km by road to the North East of Lagos and very close to A121 highway. However, the population of this town is over 200,000 people. His Imperial Majesty Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona is the town traditional ruler. Nevertheless, there are lot of social amenities and infrastructure in this town. Also, there are lot of notable people that live and were given birth to in this town. Some includes; Adeola Odutola, the Nigerian Businessman. Another is Subomi Balogun, He is a Nigerian banker, Philanthropist and the founder of FCM Bank. Meanwhile, others like Oluyemi Adeniji, is a Diplomat. Another one is Eniola Badmus, she is a Nigeria actress. Festus Segun and so on make a good list of prominent people in ogun state. Although, there are lot of them from this town.
